Where: Murrumbidgee River

 

The Murrumbidgee River attracts anglers from far and wide.

The prime target species for anglers is the Murray Cod, followed by Golden Perch (Yellow Belly), Trout and Murray Crayfish. A NSW Recreational Fishing Fee (License) is required. There are fishing closures near weirs and fishing gear restrictions generally apply. Trout Cod, Macquarie Perch, Silver Perch, Freshwater Catfish and River Blackfish are totally protected. Be aware of the sizes, bag limits and seasons to ensure the continued protection of these species.

Bait fishing would be the preferred technique to use in the Murrumbidgee by most anglers. It’s easy, enjoyable and relaxing. The standard bait fishing techniques you would use anywhere, applys to this waterway as well.

Murrumbidgee River & Morelys Creek Access

South Gundagai Recreation Reserve:

From the Main Street of Sheridan east towards Homer Street, head south onto Middleton Drive and follow the road across the existing section of the Prince Alfred Bridge. Turn right onto Tumut Street and continue onto Mount Street, turn right onto Ridge Street. Head north west on Ridge Street and turn right onto Ferry Street.

North Gundagai Boat Ramp:

Follow the Nangus Rd due west from North Gundagai, for approximately 700m past the Jones Creek Bridge. There is a sign indicating the boat ramp. There is a concrete boat ramp which allows for the launching for boats of all sizes.
