Gundagai’s Australia Day Celebrations will begin with a BBQ breakfast provided by the Gundagai Lions Club in Carberry Park commencing at 8am.
At 8:55 am there will be a call to order and the National Anthem. The Mayor will deliver the Mayoral welcome followed by the Prayer for Australia.
Our Australia Day Ambassador will give her Australia Day address. Valerie Parv was made a Member of the Order of Australia in the 2015 Queen’s Birthday Honours List for significant contributions to the arts as a prolific author, and as a role model and mentor. She received the Australian Society of Authors ASA Medal 2014-15, and is one of Australia’s most successful authors with more than 29 million copies of her books sold, translated into 29 languages and as ebooks.
The Mayor and Mrs. Parv will present Certificates of Achievement, Sports Achievement Awards, Sports Person of the Year, Young Citizen of the Year and finally our Citizen of the Year Award. Following the presentation photo opportunities will be available for public and media.
